WEEN 2019

Wales Ecology & Evolution Network returns for its 6th annual meeting in 2019

WEEN is a student-led conference which promotes postgraduate research and creates a networking platform for early-career researchers at the largest universities in Wales.

For WEEN19 we will be returning to the Centre for Alternative Technology (Powys, Mid Wales), this year on the 29th of November until the 1st of December. The conference will provide the opportunity for students to share their research in poster sessions and 15 minute talks, as well mixing with postgraduate students from across Wales in a fun and informal networking opportunity.  As always, under our broad remit of ‘ecology and evolution’, students from a wide variety of subject areas are invited to present their work, allowing us to share ideas from a diverse range of fields.

We are also happy to announce that we will feature Dr Stephanie Januchowski-Hartley as a keynote speaker. She is a Sêr Cymru Rising Star Fellow at Swansea University, where she directs the Freshwater Interdisciplinary Research and Engagement Lab that specialises in interdisciplinary approaches to understanding freshwater ecosystems. She is also active as a science communicator through her poetry, sketching, photography, blogging and her twitter game #DamOrNot. Find out more about her work here or through her twitter @ConnectedWaters.

Registration is now open! The registration fee covers weekend meals (vegetarian) and accommodation in the Centre for Alternative Technology. We offer two kinds of tickets: For £30,- you can stay in the self-build Group accommodation (up to 18 people per accommodation), situated at about a 5-10 minute walk from the conference centre. For £50,- you will stay in the bed & breakfast rooms (2 beds per room) in the WISE building, only one floor higher than the conference rooms. Note that the only difference between these tickets is the type of accommodation you will stay in. Both tickets include food and conference registration fees as well. Attendance costs are subsidised by our kind sponsors, including the four main universities involved.

Please click here to register. If you are not a student from Bangor University you will have to make a guest account to be able to register your attendance at the conference.
